Noida International Airport: Progress and Future Plans
Development Over the Past 4.5 Years
Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, shared updates on the airport’s progress. He mentioned that flight operations are expected to increase in the coming weeks and months. Calibration flights for the instrument landing system are planned for September, followed by validation flights for approach and departure procedures in October.
Architectural Design and Cargo Terminal
The passenger terminal will feature North Indian architectural elements. The cargo terminal, designed and constructed in partnership with Air India SATS, will have a capacity of over 1 lakh tonnes and is designed to grow with demand. The airport plans to submit its application for the aerodrome license this year.
Future Operations and Sustainability
Commercial flight operations are expected to begin by April 2025. The airport will connect the greater Delhi area and Western Uttar Pradesh with other cities in India and globally. It aims to blend Swiss efficiency with Indian hospitality and will be the first airport in India to achieve net zero emissions.
