Dhaka, Bangladesh – Leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have suggested that Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus should lead an interim government to address the ongoing challenges in Bangladesh. This proposal was announced in a video message by student leaders Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmud, and Abu Bakar Mazumdar.

On Monday night, Nahid Islam mentioned that an outline for the interim government would be prepared within 24 hours. This development follows the resignation and departure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after violent protests demanding her resignation.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has approved the formation of an interim government. A meeting was held at Bangabhaban, the presidential palace, with military chiefs, political leaders, and civil society members to discuss the country’s deteriorating law and order situation. The Army has been tasked with restoring order.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that Tarique Rahman, the party’s acting chairman, will return to Bangladesh soon. He also stated that Begum Khaleda Zia and other political prisoners would be released.

Mirza Fakhrul urged everyone to maintain peace and protect religious minorities, emphasizing the importance of not acting out of anger or hatred.
