In Guwahati, Assam, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) and Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) have signed a Joint Venture Agreement to create a 1000 MW solar power project. This initiative aims to promote sustainable energy in Assam.
The signing ceremony was attended by Prasant Phukan, Assam's Power Minister, KK Diwedi, Principal Secretary (Energy), Syedain Abbasi, Chairman of APDCL, Rakesh Kumar, Managing Director of APDCL, and Bibhu Bhuinya, Managing Director of APGCL. From NIRL, Prasanna Kumar Acharya and Jagidsh Mazumdar signed the agreement.
The Joint Venture Company (JVC) will be managed with NIRL holding a 51% stake and APDCL 49%. The project will focus on developing green energy in Assam, meeting the state's energy needs sustainably.
NIRL will bring its renewable energy expertise, while APDCL will handle land acquisition and regulatory approvals. The project will sign Power Purchase Agreements to sell all generated power for 25 years. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman of NIRL, emphasized the project's role in providing clean energy and creating green jobs in Assam.
