NITI Aayog and CM Eknath Shinde Plan to Make Mumbai a Global Financial Hub

NITI Aayog, led by CEO B V R Subramaniam, has conducted a study to transform Mumbai and its surrounding areas into a global financial hub. The study aims to double Mumbai’s GDP in the next five years by focusing on seven key sectors.

The study was presented to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, and Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik were also present during the presentation.

Chief Minister Shinde highlighted that these initiatives will provide new direction to the state’s development and improve communication infrastructure. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also supports this vision, aiming to make Mumbai the fintech capital of the world.

In May, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis noted that Maharashtra has continued to attract significant foreign direct investment (FDI), receiving Rs 1,14,964 crore from foreign investors this year, according to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
