India’s Nishad Kumar won a silver medal in the men’s high jump T47 class at the Paris Paralympics, clearing a height of 2.04m. Despite his best efforts, he fell short of the gold, which was claimed by Roderick Townsend with a jump of 2.06m.

Nishad, who also won silver in Tokyo, was emotional after the event. He mentioned that everything was fine during the final, but he couldn’t execute his jump as he desired. He praised Townsend for his performance and sportsmanship, noting that Townsend treated him like a brother when they trained together in the US.

Before the Paris Paralympics began, the Paralympic Committee of India president Devendra Jhajharia expressed confidence that India would win 25 medals. Nishad remains hopeful that the Indian team will achieve this target.
