In Bengaluru, Karnataka, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the Channapatna Assembly bypoll, offered prayers at the Thirumalagiri Shri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Swamy temple. He was accompanied by his wife Revathi, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, and his grandfather, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda.

Nikhil expressed his excitement about contesting the elections, stating, “Today is a very big day for us. I am happy I got the chance to fight for the seat. All the workers are with me in this fight. I am sure people will also bless me.”

Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy emphasized the party’s determination to win, saying, “Our party wants to win the elections. Our party workers unitedly will fight this battle and ultimately win.”

Nikhil Kumaraswamy, also the JD(S) State Youth Unit President, will face CP Yogeshwara, who recently joined Congress. HD Kumaraswamy previously defeated Yogeshwara in the 2018 and 2023 assembly polls. The seat became vacant after HD Kumaraswamy won from the Mandya parliamentary segment.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa announced Nikhil’s candidacy, expressing confidence in winning all three by-poll seats. He stated, “We have announced Nikhil Kumaraswamy as NDA candidate. We are going to win all three seats…”

Nikhil has been actively engaging with his constituency, stating, “I have been touring Panchayati Headquarters in my constituency… I have a lot of confidence in the Channapatna constituency people. They will bless me.”

The first phase of voting will cover 47 Assembly constituencies and the Wayanad parliamentary seat in Kerala on November 13, followed by the second phase on November 20 for the Kedarnath Assembly constituency in Uttarakhand and the Nanded parliamentary seat in Maharashtra. Vote counting is scheduled for November 23.
