Nikhil Kumaraswamy Gears Up for Channapatna By-Election
The Bengaluru JD(S) women’s wing is actively preparing to support Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the JD(S)-BJP alliance candidate, in the Channapatna by-election. A meeting led by JD(S) city unit president H.M. Ramesh Gowda focused on campaign strategies. Ramesh Gowda encouraged workers to secure a large majority for Nikhil. Shailaja Rao, city president of the Bengaluru JD(S) women’s wing, emphasized the importance of the women’s wing in ensuring victory.
Presidents from all 28 constituencies in Bengaluru, key party workers, and senior leaders attended the meeting. Discussions included campaign strategies, booth-level planning, and increasing women’s participation in the election campaign. Nikhil Kumaraswamy, also the JD(S) State Youth Unit President, will compete against CP Yogeshwara, who recently joined Congress.
The seat became vacant after HD Kumaraswamy won from the Mandya parliamentary segment. Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa announced Nikhil’s candidacy, expressing confidence in winning all three seats in the upcoming by-polls. Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy supported the decision, stating it was made with the blessings of party leaders.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy expressed confidence in the Channapatna constituency, stating he has been working closely with local leaders and workers. Voting will occur on November 13 and 20, with counting on November 23.
