NIA Searches in Chhattisgarh After Indian Army Soldier’s Killing by CPI (Maoist)
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted extensive searches in the Amabeda area of North Bastar, Chhattisgarh, following the brutal killing of Indian Army personnel Motiram Achala by terrorists from the banned CPI (Maoist). The searches took place in villages including Useli, Gumjhir, Badetevda, Umarkumta, and Amabeda.
During the operation, NIA teams seized air guns, mobile phones, printers, laptops, hard discs, DVRs, motorcycles, incriminating Naxal documents, and Rs 66,500 in cash. The case, identified as RC-13/2024/NIA-RPR, pertains to the fatal attack on Motiram Achala, who was on leave and attending a local fair with his brother and friends when he was shot dead by unknown CPI (Maoist) cadres in February 2023.
After the murder, the attackers fled towards the nearby jungle, shouting slogans of ‘Lal Salam Jindabad.’ The NIA took over the case from local police in March and has since intensified its efforts to dismantle the Maoist network in the region.
