NIA Offers Reward for Information on VHP Leader Vikas Prabhakar’s Murder in Punjab

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh each for information on Harjit Singh and Kulbeer Singh, wanted in connection with the murder of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Prabhakar in Punjab.

Details of the Incident

Vikas Prabhakar was shot dead on April 13, 2024, by two unidentified men at his shop in Nangal town, Rupnagar district, Punjab. The assailants entered his confectionery shop near the Rupnagar railway station, opened fire, and fled the scene.

Wanted Accused

Harjit Singh, also known as Laddi, from Garpadhana village in Punjab’s Nawanshahr, and Kulbeer Singh, also known as Sidhu, from Yamuna Nagar, Haryana, are the main suspects. The NIA has assured that the identities of informants will be kept confidential.

Arrests Made

On April 16, the Rupnagar Police, in collaboration with the state special operating cell (SSOC) in Mohali, arrested two operatives linked to the murder. The police recovered two pistols, live cartridges, an empty cartridge, and a TVS Jupiter scooty used in the crime.

Investigation Findings

Preliminary investigations revealed that the murder was orchestrated by a terror module funded by handlers based in Portugal and other locations, with backing from Pakistan-based masterminds.
