NIA Charges Vinod Mishra in Naxal Revival Case in Magadh Zone

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charges against Vinod Mishra, a key Naxal leader, in the Magadh Zone revival case. Mishra, also known as Binod Kumar Mishra, is a close associate of Pramod Mishra, the Chief of the North Regional Bureau of the Naxal outfit.

The NIA’s investigation revealed that Vinod Mishra provided shelter and logistical support to Naxal leaders and cadres at his house, facilitating their meetings and activities aimed at reviving the banned organization in the Magadh Zone, which includes the Gaya and Aurangabad areas in Bihar.

The case, identified as RC-26/2023/NIA, began with the arrest of two top Naxal leaders on August 10, 2023. During their arrest, various Naxal literature, handwritten letters, and seven memory cards containing photographs, letters, and other materials related to Naxal activities were seized.

The NIA took over the investigation in October and registered the case against three accused persons, including Pramod Mishra, Anil Yadav, and Vinod Mishra. In February 2024, the agency filed charges against Pramod Mishra and Anil Yadav. Vinod Mishra, who had been evading arrest, was finally apprehended on March 20, 2024, in Dhanbad, Jharkhand.

The NIA stated that the arrested individuals were involved in promoting the anti-India ideology of CPI (Maoist), recruiting new members, and collecting funds to further their agenda of reviving the Naxal outfit in the Magadh Zone, with the aim of disrupting India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
