NIA Charges Two Men in ISIS Terror Plot in Maharashtra

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charges against two men, Mohammed Shoeb Khan and Mohammed Zoheb Khan, in connection with an ISIS terror conspiracy in Maharashtra. The charges were filed in the NIA Special Court in Mumbai.

Details of the Case

The NIA revealed that Shoeb, based in Libya, and Zoheb, who was arrested in February, conspired to recruit vulnerable youth to carry out terror attacks in India. They were charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

International Links

The investigation exposed international connections, including foreign-based handlers of ISIS. Both men had pledged allegiance to the self-proclaimed Khalifa of ISIS and planned to flee to Afghanistan or Turkey after executing their attacks.

Radicalization Efforts

Zoheb created a WhatsApp group with over 50 youth from Aurangabad to radicalize and recruit them. The group shared videos on making explosives and planned terror attacks across India. They also developed a website to promote ISIS’s extremist ideology.

The NIA continues to work tirelessly to dismantle ISIS networks in India.
