NIA Charges Two for Helping Conspirators in Praveen Nettaru’s Case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charged two individuals for their involvement in aiding key conspirators in the killing of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru. Nettaru, a district committee member of BJP Yuva Morcha, was brutally killed with sharp weapons in a public place to instill fear among the people.
The incident was initially reported by the Dakshina Kannada district police on July 27, 2022, at Bellare police station in Karnataka. The case was re-registered by the NIA on August 4, 2022, under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). So far, 19 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
Mustafa Paichar, the main conspirator, was arrested along with Mansoor Pasha on May 10 this year in Sakaleshpura area in Hassan district. According to the NIA, Paichar was the master trainer of the PFI Service Team in the state and had planned and identified the target for elimination.
Another accused, Riyaz HY, was arrested by the NIA from Mumbai International Airport on June 3 this year while attempting to flee the country. Both individuals are charged under sections 120B and 212 of the IPC and section 19 of the UA(P) Act. The investigation is ongoing to locate and arrest the remaining seven absconders.
