NIA Arrests Senior CPI (Maoist) Member Uday Ji in 2021 Bihar Arms Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Uday ji, also known as Rajesh Kumar Sinha, a senior member of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), in connection with a 2021 Bihar case involving the seizure of arms, ammunition, and explosives.

According to the NIA, Uday ji was arrested under various provisions of the Arms Act, Explosive Substances Act, Criminal Law Amendment Act, and UA (P) Act. The case, registered in June 2021, involved the recovery of arms, ammunition, improvised hand grenades, and other incriminating materials from Maoist operative Parshuram Singh.

Parshuram Singh had visited a CPI (Maoist) camp in Budhapahad, Jharkhand, and supplied improvised hand grenades. Uday ji was found to be instrumental in providing financial and logistics support to Parshuram Singh, who manufactured the grenades at his garage in Danapur.

The NIA’s investigation revealed a conspiracy to supply arms, ammunition, and explosives to the CPI (Maoist). In December 2021, the NIA filed charges against five individuals: Parshuram Singh, Sanjay Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Prem Raj alias Gautam, and Md. Badruddin. The role of Mithilesh Mehta, a Central Committee member of the CPI (Maoist), also came to light, leading to his custody in June 2022 and charges in November 2022.
