The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has taken notice of a tragic incident involving a 13-year-old girl in the eighth grade at a private school in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. The girl reportedly died by suicide on October 23, 2024, within the school hostel premises located in Reddypalem village panchayat area.

The NHRC has expressed concern over the potential violation of the girl’s human rights, as the incident occurred under the school’s supervision. In response, the Commission has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police of Andhra Pradesh, demanding a comprehensive report within four weeks. This report should include the status of the police investigation, the post-mortem examination results, and any other inquiries conducted regarding the incident.
