Network Planning Group Evaluates Key Infrastructure Projects in India

The Network Planning Group (NPG) under PM Gati Shakti recently held its 81st meeting to review five major infrastructure projects. The meeting, led by Rajeev Singh Thakur, Additional Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, took place on October 10.

Vrindavan Bypass Project

One of the projects assessed was the Vrindavan bypass in Uttar Pradesh. This greenfield project involves constructing a 16.75 km bypass connecting NH-44 to the Yamuna Expressway. It aims to reduce travel time from 1.5 hours to just 15 minutes, easing traffic congestion and boosting tourism and trade in the region.

Sandalpur-Badi Road Project

Another project is the Sandalpur-Badi road in Madhya Pradesh, which involves building a 4-lane highway over 142.26 km. This project is expected to improve connectivity between Indore and Jabalpur, particularly alleviating congestion in Bhopal.

Junnar-Taleghar and Bhimashankar-Rajgurunagar Road Projects

In Maharashtra, the NPG evaluated the Junnar-Taleghar road upgrade and the Bhimashankar-Rajgurunagar road project. These projects aim to enhance connectivity and facilitate smoother movement of cargo and passengers, boosting economic activities.

Srinagar Airport Expansion

The NPG also reviewed the expansion of the Srinagar Airport in Budgam, Jammu & Kashmir. This project includes constructing a new terminal building to handle 10 million passengers annually, along with additional infrastructure improvements.
