Nepal’s Former Vice President Paramananda Jha Meets Former PM HD Deve Gowda in Bengaluru
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], September 19: Nepal’s former Vice President Paramananda Jha met with former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda at his residence in Padmanabhanagar, Bengaluru, on Wednesday. The two leaders exchanged warm greetings and held discussions. Paramananda Jha presented a bouquet to HD Deve Gowda.
Paramananda Jha served as Nepal’s first Vice President from 2008 to 2015. The meeting highlighted the strong civilisational and cultural ties between India and Nepal, which are reinforced by regular high-level exchanges. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Nepal is a priority partner for India under its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. Since May 2014, there have been 17 exchanges at the level of Head of State or Head of Government between the two countries.
On September 17, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli extended birthday wishes to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 74th birthday, wishing him health, happiness, and continued success. PM Modi responded by expressing his eagerness to work closely with PM Oli to strengthen the partnership between India and Nepal.
Nepal’s Foreign Affairs Minister Arzu Rana Deuba also wished PM Modi on his birthday, emphasizing the deep bond of friendship and cooperation between the two nations. She expressed her desire to further strengthen these ties in the future. In August, Arzu Rana Deuba met with PM Modi in Delhi to discuss the diverse aspects of India-Nepal relations and handed over an invitation from PM Oli for PM Modi to visit Nepal.
