Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is preparing for a visit to China in November. After marking 100 days in office, he has instructed officials to update him on the progress of projects with China, particularly those under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The Foreign Ministry is tasked with reporting on BRI and other agreements between the two nations. Preparations for the visit are underway, with discussions expected to include energy and trade issues.

Oli, who is also the chairperson of the CPN- Unified Marxist Leninist (UML), became Prime Minister for the fourth time in July, forming an alliance with the Nepali Congress. In September, he attended the United Nations General Assembly in the United States, where he met with various world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Projects Underway

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, has mentioned several projects under the BRI framework, such as the second phase of the Ring Road, Hilsa-Simikot Road, the fourth phase of the Araniko Highway, and the Integrated Check Post in Korala of Mustang.
