Nepal Floods: 193 Dead, Rescue Efforts Continue
The recent floods in Nepal have resulted in 193 deaths, with 31 people still missing. Authorities have been working tirelessly to rescue and provide aid to those affected since the disaster began on Saturday.

According to Rishi Ram Tiwari, the Spokesperson of the Home Ministry, 4500 people have been rescued from various locations. Food, emergency relief materials, and free medical treatment are being provided to the victims.
Disaster Risk Management Authority Meeting
A meeting held by the Disaster Risk Management Authority on Monday morning decided to speed up rescue efforts for those stranded and displaced by the floods and landslides. The meeting also decided to provide the first tranche of grants for reconstructing houses damaged by the disaster, aiming to complete this within a week after identifying the actual victims.
Weather Conditions
The floods were caused by water vapor from the Bay of Bengal and a low-pressure system in the region. The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Authority had issued warnings for 56 out of 77 districts, advising people to take caution.
Monsoon Season
Nepal, home to nine of the world’s ten highest peaks, has experienced above-average rainfall this monsoon season. The monsoon, which usually lasts 105 days, has been extended this year, causing more rain and affecting 1.8 million people and 412 thousand households.
According to the Nepal Met Office, the country received 1,586.3 millimeters of rainfall as of Friday morning, which is 107.2 percent of the average monsoon rainfall.
