The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has announced the cancellation of all domestic flights until Saturday morning because of bad weather. Gyanendra Bhul, the deputy spokesperson, said that many flights were diverted or stopped on Friday due to extreme weather and high turbulence.

Nepal is currently experiencing heavy monsoon rains. The Met Office has predicted more rainfall in various provinces, including Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini. The monsoon season, which usually ends on September 23, has been extended to October 2 this year.

On average, Nepal has 300 two-way domestic flights daily. However, 75% of these flights were cancelled on Friday due to continuous rainfall in Kathmandu. The monsoon season in Nepal generally starts on June 13 and lasts for about 105 days, delivering around 80% of the country’s annual rainfall.
