NEET-PG Exams Postponed Amid NEET-UG Controversies
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has decided to postpone the NEET-Post Graduate exams, which were originally scheduled for June 23, 2024. This decision comes amid controversies and alleged irregularities in the NEET-Undergraduate exams.
Ministry of Health’s Statement
The Ministry of Health stated that the postponement is a precautionary measure to ensure the integrity of the NEET-PG Entrance Examination process. The new date for the exam will be announced soon.
Controversies Surrounding NEET-UG
The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting the NEET-UG exams, is under scrutiny due to alleged irregularities. An unprecedented 67 candidates achieved a perfect score, leading to protests and demands to disband the NTA.
High-Level Committee Formed
The Ministry of Education has formed a high-level committee led by former ISRO chairman Dr. K Radhakrishnan. This committee will recommend reforms to improve the examination process, data security protocols, and the functioning of the NTA. The committee will submit its report in the next two months.
