NDRF Rescues 95 People as Heavy Rains Cause Floods in Gujarat

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has rescued 95 people in Devbhumi Dwarka, Gujarat, as heavy rainfall continues to create flood-like conditions. Inspector Manjit from NDRF reported that the area has experienced significant rainfall over the past two days, leading to water entering homes and necessitating rescues.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) mentioned in a post on X that the weather system over Saurashtra and Kachchh has remained stationary and is expected to move into the northeast Arabian Sea by the morning of August 30. There is a possibility of temporary and marginal intensification over the sea.

Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel stated that more than 12,000 people have been rescued and over 5,000 rehabilitated due to the floods, particularly in Vadodara. He assured that food and medical facilities are being provided to those affected.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, assuring him of all possible support from the Central government. CM Patel expressed gratitude, noting the Prime Minister’s constant monitoring and guidance during the crisis.

Heavy rainfall continues to affect parts of Gujarat, with six Army contingents assisting the 14 NDRF and 22 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams in rescue and relief operations.
