NCPCR Chairman Priyank Kanoongo Raises Concerns Over Radical Curriculum in Bihar Madrassas
On Sunday, Priyank Kanoongo, the chairman of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), expressed his worries about the ‘radical curriculum’ and the use of Pakistan-published books in government-funded madrassas in Bihar.
In a post on X, Kanoongo mentioned that books like ‘Talimul Islam’ are being used in these institutions, where non-Islamic individuals are referred to as ‘Kafirs’. He also raised concerns about the enrollment of Hindu children in these madrassas and accused the Bihar government of not providing official data on the number of such students.
Kanoongo criticized UNICEF and the Madrasa Board for their involvement, calling it the ‘height of appeasement’. He urged the UN to investigate these activities and recommended the dissolution of the Madrasa Board. He emphasized that children should study in schools and not in madrassas, especially Hindu children.
