Encounter in Dhamtari District

In the Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh, an encounter between Naxalites and security personnel resulted in several Naxalites being injured. The clash began in the Amjhar village and Muhkot forests and is ongoing. Intermittent firing from both sides has been reported, and the investigation is still underway.

IED Blast in Sukma District

Earlier in the day, two jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed by an IED blast planted by Naxalites between Silger and Tekulagudem in the Sukma district. The deceased jawans were identified as Vishnu R (35) from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and Shailendra (29) from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. They were part of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) 201 battalion, a specialized force for guerrilla and jungle warfare.

The incident occurred at 3 pm on Sunday while the jawans were on Road Opening Duty. The IED was planted by Naxalites to harm security forces.

Chief Minister’s Response

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed grief over the deaths and condemned the attack as a ‘cowardly act out of frustration’ due to the ongoing Naxal eradication campaign in Bastar. He prayed for the peace of the departed souls and strength for their families.
