Naxal Commander Giridhar and Wife Surrender in Maharashtra

In Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, Naxal commander Giridhar, who had a cash reward of Rs. 25 lakh, surrendered along with his wife, who had a reward of Rs. 16 lakh. This event took place in the presence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday.

Fadnavis called the surrender a ‘great success’ against Maoism, describing Giridhar as the ‘backbone of Maoism.’ He praised the efforts of the police and administration, particularly the C-60 force in Gadchiroli, for creating conditions that led to the surrender. Fadnavis highlighted that no one from Gadchiroli has joined Maoist activities in the last four years.

As part of the surrender, Fadnavis presented the couple with a shawl, a bouquet of flowers, and a copy of the Indian Constitution. They also received a cheque of Rs. 25 lakh under the government’s rehabilitation scheme.
