Islamabad, Pakistan – Amid political turmoil, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has called for a dialogue involving all major political parties, including Imran Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf, and state institutions to help Pakistan overcome its crises.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have tried to bring Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), back into the fold after he declared a solo flight against the government earlier this month.

The PML-N leadership met at their Model Town headquarters to discuss various issues, including relief for electricity users, reforms in Punjab, and restructuring the ruling party in the province. The meeting also addressed the targeting of the rival PTI following the May 9 riots.

After the meeting, Nawaz Sharif emphasized the need for unity among political parties and institutions, stating, “All political parties, governments, and institutions should join hands in decision-making. They need to sit together to steer the country out of crises.”

PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah has been tasked with approaching Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, who leads the PTI-dominated opposition alliance for constitutional supremacy. Sanaullah conveyed Nawaz Sharif’s respect for Achakzai and urged him to cooperate with PML-N.

However, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif expressed his opposition to holding talks with PTI, stating, “I am not in favour of talks with PTI.” He clarified that he is not part of any teams negotiating with PTI through Achakzai.

Earlier, on August 25, Khawaja Asif noted that PTI postponed its scheduled rally in Islamabad on August 22 due to concerns about public support, causing controversy within the party.
