Navya Haridas Files Nomination for Wayanad Lok Sabha Seat

On October 24, Navya Haridas, the BJP candidate for the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala, officially filed her nomination papers. She was accompanied by former Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan and other leaders. Navya expressed her belief that the people of Wayanad desire a change in political leadership and are likely to support the BJP this time. She criticized previous MPs for not addressing the real issues of the constituency, particularly the needs of the tribal population, which makes up 10% of Wayanad.

Meanwhile, Satyan Mokeri, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate, criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for vacating the Wayanad seat, which he won in the 2024 general election, leading to the bye-elections. Mokeri accused Congress of imposing the bye-elections and questioned their readiness for political debate.

Priyanka Gandhi, representing Congress, filed her nomination on October 23, marking her electoral debut. She was supported by a roadshow and top Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi. The Wayanad seat was vacated by Rahul Gandhi after he was also elected from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh. The bypolls are scheduled for November 13, alongside assembly elections in Jharkhand and other states.
