In Ranchi, Jharkhand, BJP leader Navin Jaiswal expressed gratitude to the party leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for selecting him to contest from the Hatia Constituency in the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections. Jaiswal thanked PM Modi, BJP state president JP Nadda, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the opportunity.

The BJP announced its first list of 66 candidates for the elections, including former Jharkhand Chief Ministers Champai Soren and Babulal Marandi. Champai Soren will contest from Saraikella, while Babulal Marandi will run from Dhanwar. Other candidates include Lobin Hembrom from Borio, Sita Soren from Jamtara, Geeta Balmuchu from Chaibasa, and Geeta Koda from Jaganathpur. Meera Munda, wife of Union Minister Arjun Munda, will contest from Potka.

The BJP is contesting the elections in alliance with the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). The BJP will contest 68 seats, AJSU 10 seats, JD-U two seats, and LJP one seat. The elections for the 81 seats of the Jharkhand assembly will occur in two phases on November 13 and November 20, with vote counting on November 23.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced that the INDIA bloc, including JMM and Congress, will contest 70 of the 81 seats, with discussions ongoing with RJD and Left parties for the remaining seats.
