Ratan Tata’s body was displayed at NCPA lawns for public homage, drawing large crowds. Gujarat and Maharashtra declared a day of mourning, with flags at half-mast and no government entertainment events. The Maharashtra Cabinet proposed awarding Tata the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor.

Born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, Ratan Tata led the Tata Group and its philanthropic trusts, leaving a legacy of integrity and compassion. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
