Nasser Hussain Praises Virat Kohli Ahead of T20 World Cup Final Against South Africa

Former England cricketer Nasser Hussain has praised Indian batter Virat Kohli, saying he always performs well in big matches. Despite Kohli’s struggles in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, where he scored 75 runs at an average of 10.71, Hussain highlighted Kohli’s performance against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Hussain said, “I mean you go back to the game against Pakistan at the MCG, India were floundering. Who was there at the end? Smashing. That’s the biggest game of all time for the Indians. India, Pakistan, you know. So he is always there in big matches.” He added that no one should doubt the 35-year-old in big matches and mentioned that Kohli has faced problems because of the pitches in New York.

Hussain believes Kohli should continue to bat as he has over the last decade, with a strike rate of 138, and be the player around whom the team can build their innings. He emphasized that Kohli’s performance in big matches is undeniable.

The Men in Blue, led by Rohit Sharma, will face South Africa in the final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday. India has dominated the tournament, defeating teams like Australia, Pakistan, and England, while South Africa has had a more challenging path to the final, narrowly escaping elimination in several matches.
