Heavy Rain Closes Schools in Nagpur, Causes Waterlogging in Mumbai

All schools and colleges in Nagpur will be closed on Monday due to heavy rainfall, according to an order by Nagpur District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar. This decision follows an orange alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for the Nagpur district.

Mumbai’s Situation:

Mumbai has experienced severe waterlogging in various areas due to heavy rainfall. The Regional Meteorological Centre of Mumbai issued an orange alert for Nagpur, Mumbai City, and Mumbai suburban areas on Sunday, with a yellow alert for Monday.

According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall is expected in most places, with heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas over Vidarbha. Heavy rainfall is also expected in isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Marathwada, and Telangana on July 21.

Advisories Issued:

The Mumbai Police issued an advisory asking citizens to avoid coastal areas and to leave their homes only if necessary. In case of emergencies, residents can call number 100. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation also urged residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.

An orange alert has also been issued for Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts in Maharashtra’s Konkan region. Several roads in Mumbai have been waterlogged, causing traffic issues. Mumbai has been experiencing heavy rains for the past couple of weeks.
