The Mysore Airport in Karnataka is celebrating the 8th anniversary of the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, which has significantly improved its operations and facilities. Anoop JR, the Airport Director, highlighted the scheme’s impact on increasing passenger footfall and infrastructure development. The airport is set to expand its runway by an additional kilometer, with the state government assisting in land acquisition.

About the UDAN Scheme

Launched in October 2016 as part of the National Civil Aviation Policy, the UDAN scheme aims to make flying affordable and enhance regional connectivity. It targets connecting 72 airports, including 45 unserved and underserved ones, with capped airfare for short journeys.

Kadapa Airport Developments

In Andhra Pradesh, Kadapa Airport, initially operated by TruJet Airways and now by Indigo Airlines, has four daily flights. Sujith Kr Poddar, the airport director, shared the current flight schedule, which includes routes to Chennai, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, and Visakhapatnam.
