MV Dali Cargo Ship Crash: Eight Crew Members Return to India After Baltimore Bridge Collapse

Three months ago, the MV Dali cargo ship lost power and crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland. This tragic accident resulted in the deaths of six construction workers and caused the bridge to collapse.

On Thursday, a judge approved a deal allowing eight crew members to return to India. These crew members include a cook, a fitter, an oiler, and several seamen. They will be able to conduct lawsuit-related interviews from India.

The remaining crew members, including all officers, must stay in the United States until the ongoing investigations and litigation are completed. This process could take more than a year. The ship is scheduled to leave for Norfolk, Virginia, with a small crew on board.

Investigations by the FBI and the National Transportation Safety Board are underway to determine who is responsible for the crash. Baltimore’s mayor has announced legal action to hold the wrongdoers accountable. In April, US President Joe Biden visited the collapsed bridge and promised to rebuild it.
