Mushfiqur Rahim to Miss Test Series Against West Indies

St John’s, Antigua – Bangladesh’s experienced batter, Mushfiqur Rahim, will not participate in the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies starting November 22. Rahim is sidelined due to a finger injury sustained during the first ODI against Afghanistan in Sharjah on November 6.

The injury, a fracture on the tip of his left index finger, has also kept him out of the ongoing three-match ODI series. His participation in the ODI series beginning December 8 remains uncertain, as his recovery is expected to take four to six weeks.

Following the Test series, Bangladesh is set to play three ODIs and three T20Is against the West Indies. Mushfiqur, who has retired from T20I cricket, may join the team for the ODI matches if his recovery goes as planned.

In the first ODI against Afghanistan, Mushfiqur batted lower than usual due to his injury and scored only one run. Bangladesh lost the match but bounced back to win the second ODI by 68 runs. The final ODI is scheduled for Monday in Sharjah.

Mushfiqur is expected to return to Bangladesh to focus on his recovery. The team management has not yet announced a replacement for him in the ongoing ODI series against Afghanistan.
