Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim surpassed Tamim Iqbal to become the highest run scorer for Bangladesh during the first Test match against India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
On Saturday, the 37-year-old Mushfiqur scored 13 runs from 11 balls in the second inning of the match. His innings ended when Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed him in the 34th over. Mushfiqur now has a total of 15,194 runs in international cricket, including ODI, T20I, and Tests. Tamim Iqbal, the former Bangladesh captain, is now second with 15,192 runs. Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah are third and fourth with 14,696 and 10,694 runs, respectively.

Earlier, India resumed the second session of Day three at 205/3 with Rishabh Pant (82*) and Shubman Gill (86*) unbeaten. Pant scored a century in his comeback innings, while Gill remained unbeaten with 119 runs from 176 balls, including 10 boundaries and four sixes. KL Rahul also contributed with an unbeaten 22 runs from 19 balls. India declared their innings at 287/4, setting a target of 515 runs for Bangladesh to win the first match of the series.
