Mumbai’s NCB Arrests Sufiyan Khan, Key Member of Drug Syndicate
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai has successfully arrested Sufiyan Khan, a significant member of a drug syndicate, on Wednesday morning after a prolonged operation. Khan had been evading capture by frequently changing his hideouts and phone numbers since the NCB busted a drug syndicate in Navi Mumbai last month, seizing 31.5 kg of mephedrone, a synthetic stimulant drug.
Khan was apprehended from a lodge in Vashi on July 15 and is currently under NCB custody. Described as an important member of the drug syndicate, Khan operated from the Sewree area in Mumbai and has been involved in several police cases. Further investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, on June 28, the NCB made a significant breakthrough in curbing illicit drug trafficking in Mumbai and nearby areas by seizing 31.5 kg of mephedrone and arresting three individuals. The team seized 10 kg of mephedrone from the group operator Musharaf JK, followed by another 10.5 kg from a female gang member, and 11 kg from another member named Saif. Additionally, Rs 69,13,400 in cash was seized from the female gang member, Nauseen.
The drug racket was operating in the Nagpada and Dongri areas of Mumbai, with plans to expand to other parts of the city. The NCB had received information about a Mumbai-based syndicate involved in a large trafficking racket, leading to the identification of the Nagpada-Dongri network operated by Musharaf JK. Despite the syndicate’s elusive maneuvers, the NCB’s round-the-clock surveillance efforts led to the identification of several key associates in the case.
