Mumbai police have arrested a 26-year-old man named Raghav Rajesh Agarwal from Ludhiana, Punjab, for allegedly raping a woman under the false pretext of marriage. The police stated that the accused raped the woman several times between January last year and August 2024. The victim and Agarwal met at an exhibition in Delhi. Upon investigation, the police found Agarwal in Ludhiana, arrested him, and brought him back to Mumbai.

In a separate incident on July 29, Nalasopara police in Palghar district arrested Firoz Niyazi Sheikh for robbing women under the pretext of marriage. Sheikh deceived more than 20 women by creating fake online profiles and luring them into marriage. He targeted widowed women, stealing their money and jewelry before disappearing. The police caught Sheikh by creating a fake online profile and arranging a meeting in Kalyan, where they apprehended him.
