Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Announces New Deadline

The Maharashtra Government, in its first cabinet meeting on Wednesday, decided to complete the Mumbai Metro 3 project by the end of December 2024. The first phase of the project will run between SEEPZ (Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone) and Bandra Kurla Complex.

The project, initially scheduled to be completed by September 2024, is now set to finish by December 2024. The cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, approved the state government’s share of Rs 1,163 crore to be given directly to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation, bypassing the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

According to the government, the project has achieved 98% completion and its revised cost is Rs 37,275.50 crore. Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, is a rapid transit metro line in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
