Mumbai Hit-and-Run: Mihir Shah and Driver Confess, Victim’s Husband Seeks Justice

In Mumbai, two men, Mihir Shah and his driver Rajrishi Bidawat, have confessed to their roles in a tragic hit-and-run accident. The incident took place on July 7 when their car hit a scooter on Dr Annie Besant Road in Worli, resulting in the death of a 45-year-old woman and injuries to her husband, Pradeep Nakhwa.

According to the police, the couple was returning home after buying fish when the accident occurred. Mihir Shah was arrested in Virar and brought to Sewri court, where he was sent to police custody until July 16. His father, Rajesh Shah, was also detained for his alleged involvement.

Pradeep Nakhwa, the victim’s husband, expressed frustration over the delay in the arrests, alleging political influence due to Mihir Shah’s connections. He claimed that the accused would not have been arrested until the Vidhan Sabha session ended.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed concern over the rise in hit-and-run incidents and has directed the police to take strict action. The Shiv Sena party has removed Rajesh Shah from their ranks following his arrest.

This incident follows another hit-and-run case in Pune, where a 17-year-old allegedly under the influence of alcohol caused the deaths of two software engineers.
