Mumbai Hit-and-Run: Mihir Shah’s Father Arrested, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Vows Justice

Rajesh Shah, the father of Mihir Shah, was arrested after his son was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Mumbai, which resulted in the death of Kaveri Nakhwa. Mihir Shah, who is currently missing, had visited a pub in Juhu with friends before the incident. The police have taken statements from three of his friends.

The Mumbai Police have formed 14 teams to arrest Mihir Shah, who allegedly hit a scooter on Dr. Annie Besant Road in Worli and fled the scene. A lookout notice has been issued for Mihir.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed concern over the rise in hit-and-run incidents in the state. He assured that the guilty would not be spared, regardless of their social or political status. Shinde stated, “No one, whether rich, influential, or the offspring of bureaucrats or ministers, affiliated with any party, will have immunity as long as I am the Chief Minister of the State. I have zero tolerance for injustice.”

On July 7, Rajesh Shah and another person, Raj Rishi Rajendra Singh Vidawat, were arrested for not cooperating with the police. The victim, Kaveri Nakhwa, was a 45-year-old resident of Worli Koliwada. She was riding pillion on a scooter driven by her husband, who is currently receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the incident.

The accident occurred at 5:30 am in front of Atria Mall in Worli. The couple, from the fishing community, was returning home after buying fish when a BMW car hit them. The driver fled the scene with the car. The police revealed that the luxury car belonged to a political leader from Palghar.

This incident follows a similar case in Pune, where a Porsche driven by a 17-year-old allegedly under the influence of alcohol rammed into a motorbike, killing two software engineers on May 19.
