Disproportionate Assets Case Verdict

The City, Civil & Sessions Court in Mumbai has sentenced Prasidh Narayan Dubey, a former Superintendent of CGST, and his wife, Vimla Dubey, in a disproportionate assets case. Prasidh Dubey received a four-year prison sentence and a fine of Rs 1 lakh, while Vimla Dubey was sentenced to two years with a Rs 1 lakh fine.

Case Background

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated the case on February 20, 2018, based on information that Prasidh Dubey possessed assets worth Rs 90,90,908, which were disproportionate to his known income. The assets were found to be 77.18% more than his income during the period from June 17, 1994, to February 23, 2018.

Investigation and Trial

After a thorough investigation, the CBI filed a charge-sheet on December 23, 2020. Charges were framed on June 16, 2022, and 100 prosecution witnesses were examined. The court found both accused guilty and sentenced them accordingly.
