Mumbai City FC, led by head coach Petr Kratky, is gearing up for the 2024-25 season with a pre-season camp in Bangkok, Thailand, from July 28 to August 25. The team, known as the Islanders, had a stellar 2023-24 season, winning the ISL Cup and finishing second in the league stage with a record 47 points in 22 games.

Outstanding Performance

The Islanders boasted the best goal difference (+23) and conceded the fewest goals (19) in the league. Goalkeeper Phurba Lachenpa was a standout, earning the Golden Glove for his nine clean sheets. The team also had 16 different goal-scorers, the most in a single ISL season, with Vikram Partap Singh being named the Emerging Player of the League.

Coach’s Vision

Coach Petr Kratky emphasized the importance of rigorous preparation for the upcoming season. He highlighted the blend of experienced players and new additions to the squad, aiming for even greater success.

Building a Strong Foundation

Club CEO Kandarp Chandra spoke about the high standards set for the new season. The pre-season camp in Bangkok aims to build team chemistry, keep players fit, and execute a shared vision. The similar weather conditions to Mumbai will help players acclimatize better.

Chandra added, “We wish to hold silverware at season’s end, but we will play the season how we have always done – one game at a time.”
