Debate on Dharavi Redevelopment Project

Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar has challenged Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray to a debate regarding the Dharavi Redevelopment Project. Shelar accused Thackeray of spreading misinformation and acting as a “spokesperson for urban naxals.” He emphasized the project’s importance and criticized the narratives set by Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and Congress leader Varsha Gaikwad.

Claims and Counterclaims

Shelar questioned Aaditya Thackeray’s claims about the displacement of 7 lakh people from Dharavi, stating that only 20,000 structures have been surveyed so far. He also challenged Thackeray to provide evidence for his claim that 1,800 acres of land were given to Adani, asserting that only 540 acres were allocated to the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP).

Aaditya Thackeray’s Response

In response, Aaditya Thackeray criticized the Maharashtra government, accusing it of selling Mumbai’s assets to favored contractors. He expressed concerns over the auctioning of significant land parcels and urged Mumbaikars to unite against the current regime’s actions.
