MP Mahua Maji Urges Railways to Fix Tracks Before Running Trains
New Delhi, India – Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MP Mahua Maji has called on the Railways Ministry to focus on repairing damaged railway tracks before launching new trains like the Vande Bharat. This statement comes in the wake of a recent train derailment of the Howrah-CSMT Express near Chakradharpur in Jharkhand, which resulted in two deaths.
Maji questioned the allocation of the railway budget, pointing out that while new trains are being inaugurated, the tracks remain in poor condition. She also criticized the high fares of Vande Bharat trains and mentioned that safety issues, such as improperly closed gates, are causing accidents.
In response, Railway Minister Ashwini addressed the Lok Sabha, stating that the ministry is focused on hard work rather than making ‘reels’ for show. He highlighted improvements made for Loco Pilots, including air-conditioned running rooms and cabs, and criticized the opposition for their focus on social media posts rather than substantive work.
