MP Congress Chief Jitu Patwari Criticizes PM Modi Over New Exam Law
Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Jitu Patwari has taken a strong stance against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP regarding the new Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. Patwari accused the BJP of being behind various paper leaks, stating that individuals associated with the BJP and its affiliates are often involved in these incidents.
Patwari said, “No matter how many laws PM Modi makes against paper leak, no matter how many speeches he gives but wherever the paper is leaked, there is a college associated with BJP, ABVP workers, professors and vice-chancellors linked with ABVP come forward.” He further questioned the effectiveness of the new law, suggesting that the BJP’s intentions are flawed and that they cannot take action against their own people.
The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, which aims to prevent cheating in public examinations and common entrance tests, came into effect on June 21, 2024. The Act was passed by both Houses of Parliament during the Budget session and received the President’s approval on February 13, 2024.
The Act seeks to bring greater transparency, fairness, and credibility to public examinations. It prohibits the disclosure of exam-related confidential information before time and prevents unauthorized individuals from entering exam centers to create disruptions. Offenses under the Act are punishable with imprisonment between three and five years and a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh. All offenses are cognizable, non-bailable, and non-compoundable.
