Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held a meeting in New Delhi with Union Minister of Jal Shakti CR Patil and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to discuss the Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal river linking project. The meeting successfully resolved a 20-year-old dispute between the two states.

CM Yadav praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the river linking campaign is going on at a large scale. Especially, the cultural, economic, and social attachment of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan is such that it seems both states are a single state.”

He also mentioned that Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Minister CR Patil are taking a keen interest in the project. The project aims to provide drinking, irrigation, and industrial water to 13 districts in eastern Rajasthan and the Malwa and Chambal regions of Madhya Pradesh. It will also irrigate 2.8 lakh hectares in each state, totaling 5.6 lakh hectares.

In a post on X, CM Yadav wrote, “Today in New Delhi, a meaningful discussion was held with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma in the presence of Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil, regarding better implementation of Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal River Project.”

The Modified PKC link project will help in optimally and economically utilizing the available water resources of the Chambal basin. The various components of the project will be finalized at the DPR stage in consultation with both states.
