MP Chandra Arya Speaks on Air India Flight 182 Tragedy in Canadian Parliament
Ottawa [Canada], September 27: MP Chandra Arya addressed the Canadian Parliament, reflecting on the tragic bombing of Air India Flight 182 by Khalistan extremists 39 years ago. Arya criticized demands for a new inquiry into the bombing, alleging that it promotes Khalistani extremist theories.
The attack, which killed 329 people, remains the largest mass killing in Canadian history. Arya emphasized that the ideology behind the attack still exists among some people in Canada. He noted that two Canadian public inquiries had already found Khalistan extremists responsible for the bombing.
Mr. Bal Gupta, whose wife Rama was killed in the attack, expressed frustration over the new inquiry petition, calling it an attempt to gain publicity and support for terrorist activities.
In June, on the 39th anniversary of the bombing, Canadian journalist Daniel Bordman’s tribute to the victims in Toronto was allegedly disrupted by Pro-Khalistan elements. Bordman stressed the importance of standing up against those who seek to perpetrate terrorism.
The Indian High Commission in Canada also condemned any attempts to glorify the act of terrorism, calling it deplorable and urging all peace-loving countries and people to condemn such actions.
