Mother of Deceased Doctor Criticizes West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee Over Handling of RG Kar Medical College Case

North 24 Parganas (West Bengal) [India], August 18: The mother of a doctor who died in a tragic incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She claims the police did not do a good job and that the CM is trying to stop protests.

She recounted that hospital officials initially told her that her daughter had committed suicide. She received a call from the hospital saying her daughter was sick, but when she called back, she was told her daughter had committed suicide. Upon arriving at the hospital, she noticed signs of foul play, including her daughter’s broken hand and blood coming from her eyes and mouth.

She believes her daughter was murdered and criticized the CM for not arresting all involved. She also accused the police of trying to hush up the case and not cooperating with the family.

The parents of the deceased doctor have urged people across the country to support them until the accused are caught. They expressed their gratitude to everyone standing with them and hoped no other mother would lose a child in such a manner.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has taken notice of the case, and a hearing is scheduled for August 20. The body of the post-graduate trainee doctor was found on August 9, and a civic volunteer was arrested the next day. The Calcutta High Court has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the investigation.

The incident has led to nationwide strikes and protests by civil societies and doctors, demanding severe punishment for the accused and better safety and security for medical professionals.
