On October 4, Moscow held the 6th meeting of the Moscow Format of Consultations on Afghanistan. The meeting included representatives from Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, as the main guest.

Support for Afghanistan

Participants reaffirmed their support for Afghanistan as an independent, unified, and peaceful state. They expressed readiness to assist Kabul in counter-terrorism and anti-drug efforts and highlighted the importance of international humanitarian aid, emphasizing it should not be politically motivated.

Security Concerns

The meeting addressed concerns over terrorism in Afghanistan, urging the de facto authorities to take action against terrorist groups. They rejected the deployment of military infrastructure by third countries in Afghanistan, emphasizing regional peace and stability.

Economic and Humanitarian Efforts

Participants noted the potential for economic cooperation with Afghanistan and supported regional projects involving the country. They called for humanitarian support and urged Afghanistan’s authorities to protect the rights of all citizens, including women and ethnic groups.

Refugee Support

The meeting appreciated Iran, Pakistan, and other countries hosting Afghan refugees and called for international assistance. They emphasized the role of regional frameworks in Afghanistan’s recovery and urged responsible countries to fulfill their commitments to Afghanistan’s development.
