Moradabad Residents Use Boats to Commute Due to Heavy Rain and Waterlogging

Heavy rain in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, caused severe waterlogging on Sunday, forcing residents of Bholanath Colony to use boats for commuting. The situation was described as dire by the residents, with no drainage system in place.

Bablu, a resident, said, “The situation is quite bad. We are using a boat to commute. The whole area is suffering from waterlogging. Even the boat came only yesterday. We have to travel in this water.” Another resident, Julie, added, “There is no drainage. A person can drown in this water. We were stuck here for three days. The boat came only yesterday. It happens every year.”

The Regional Met Centre of New Delhi predicted a thunderstorm with light to moderate-intensity rain in the western region of Uttar Pradesh, including areas like Jattari, Khair, Aligarh, Iglas, Sikandra Rao, and Hathras.

On Saturday, the India Meteorological Department forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of India, including Uttar Pradesh. The southwest monsoon has advanced further into East and West Uttar Pradesh, with more rain expected in the coming days.
