Monsoon Update in Himachal Pradesh
The southwest monsoon, which started in Himachal Pradesh on June 27, is expected to fully withdraw soon, according to the India Meteorological Department. Senior Weather Scientist Sandeep Kumar Sharma reported that despite an 18% overall rain deficit, the season is classified as normal. Shimla recorded 15% more rainfall than usual, while Lahaul-Spiti experienced a 69% deficit.

Sharma explained that June had 54% less rainfall, July had a 57% deficit, while August was near-normal with only 5% less rain. September saw a slight improvement with 4% above-normal rainfall. Overall, the monsoon season was normal for the state.
Future Weather Predictions
Looking ahead, Sharma mentioned that on October 5 and 8, high-altitude regions like Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti will experience some rainfall. However, the weather will remain stable over the next five days. Temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees in the plains, with daytime temperatures staying 2 to 3 degrees above normal in the state.
